Using Code Readability Review and the Leaderboard

For some coding problems, AI reviews the readability of your correct code, and you can read other students' readable code on the leaderboard. Responding to reviews and rankings do not affect your grade.

Who This Applies To

  • Students enrolled in a course that contains the target problem

This feature is only available for problems where the instructor has enabled it. For target problems, when you answer correctly, Readability Review appears below the submit button on the Submit tab. This feature cannot be used for materials without a deadline or for materials where grading results are not displayed.

The following explains how everything works when all features are available. Depending on the settings, this feature may be unavailable even for target problems, or only the readability review and lock may be available. If only the readability review and lock are available, View Leaderboard will not appear, and there will be no ranking, no viewing of other students' code, and no finalization notifications.

Checking Reviews

  1. Answer the problem correctly.
  2. Under the submit button, Readability Review displays the AI's feedback and the count of Remaining Feedback. It may take a moment to appear.
  3. If you want to address the feedback, fix your code and submit again. When you answer correctly, a review that takes your previous feedback into account and Improvements Since Last Time will be displayed.

Addressing the feedback is optional. You can still lock your submission even if the review could not be retrieved.

Locking a Submission

  1. With a correct answer for the submission you want to be ranked, press Lock This Submission.
  2. If feedback remains, a confirmation appears. Choose either Lock Anyway or Go Back and Revise.

Once locked, you can read other students' code. Locking cannot be undone, and the submission eligible for ranking can no longer be changed. You can still submit after locking.

You cannot lock after the deadline has passed. If you do not lock, the following automatic locking applies:

  • If you answered correctly before the deadline, your last correct submission before the deadline will be locked automatically and will be eligible for ranking.
  • If you answered correctly for the first time after the deadline, it will not be eligible for ranking, but you can still read other students' code.

Viewing the Leaderboard

Press View Leaderboard on the problem screen to open the leaderboard for that problem.

  • The lower the Step Count and Remaining Feedback Count, the higher the ranking.
  • Top submissions and your own submission are displayed along with their Display Name. Your submission is also shown to other students with your display name. You can change your display name on the Settings page.
  • After locking a submission, you can read the code of listed submissions using Read Code.
  • After the deadline passes, results are finalized and AI Explanation of the 1st Place Code is displayed. When results are finalized, you will be notified by a banner at the top of the screen.

Notes

  • Reviews and explanations are generated by AI and may contain errors.
  • Course instructors can view the code and evaluations of all submissions listed on the leaderboard, even before the deadline.
  • If you do not want to use this feature, you can opt out on the Settings page.
